22-year-old Elliotte Heinz was found dead in the Mississippi River. She was a Wisconsin graduate student from Viterbo University.
What happened to Eliotte Heinz?
On July 20, Heinz went out with friends in La Crosse. At around 2:30 am, she left Bronco’s Bar and started to walk home. Surveillance video showed her walking by herself near the Mississippi River just after 3:00 am.
A search was conducted with dive teams in the Mississippi River. On July 23, 3 days later, at around 10:30 am, a fisher discovered her body in Brownsville, 10 miles from where she was last seen.

One user stated, the Mississippi River is very dangerous and shouldn’t swim in it unless at a designated beach.
Another user said that when he saw the last photo of her, he knew they would find her downstream. Stating they don’t call the Mississippi River, the “Mighty Mississippi.” For no reason.

Heinz’s family released a statement following the discovery of her body.
“She is amazing and would have continued to amaze us. We are devastated that she is no longer with us. Our family will forever have a missing piece.”
